Each June the local children's museum, COSI, has a week where they bring in heavy machinery for visitors to explore. Marc had took an 'administrative morning' and after rounding on his patients at the hospital, came home and accompanied us. This was our third or fourth time going and the kids always have fun. They let them scoop some dirt with an excavator, lift the bucket of a front-end loader and lift them off the ground with the hook of a crane. 
Sarah was the only one that wanted to hold on to the hook of the crane. Marc and I both told Tanner that we would do it if he would, but he was not interested!
Ella, looking rather unprincesslike in her hard hat, is being shown how to scoop the dirt in an excavator. She wore her high-heeled sequined flip-flops, though, so she still looked stunning.

what fun stuff you guys do!! i am really looking forward to getting out of the middle of nowhere so that we can have cool museums and stuff to visit! kobe would have loved the big machinery!
I can't believe we NEVER went to the big machines at COSI when we lived in Toledo. Well, we were only there ONE summer during our three years there (isn't that strange?)... so maybe we only had one chance. In any case, we missed it. Looks so fun. I did love COSI and the Zoo and the Art Museum and the fact that all were so close and easy to get to. Phoenix is so big... it's such a hassle to go to some of these places.
