My dad's office is cooler than your dad's

I can't really say that my dad is cooler than your dad because that would rarely be true. But I can say with confidence that my dad's office is cooler than your dad's. We were in Washington D.C. for the fourth of July and we visited my dad's office. My dad is the Director of the Office of Surface Mining within the Dept of Interior. He apparently regulates surface mining and land reclamatiozzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Sorry, if you're not involved with coal mining it is a snozer of a job. But his office is in this old building right off of Constitution Ave, so across the street (literally) is the Vietnam memorial and Lincoln Memorial. This building was built in the 1930's and my dad's office is called the Octagon room. It is like the Oval office (though lesser well known) in that it is known by its shape. It is even purportedly slightly larger than the Oval office. It was in this room the commanders of World War II met to plan the war.

This is the plaque on the wall that explains what happened there.

But the coolest part of all is this private shower off to the side with the Office of Surface Mining logo on it.

We were able to watch the fireworks from the lawn in front of the building. Excellent seats for the show. They shut down Constitution Ave a couple of hours before the fireworks and we went out and tossed a frisbee around on Constitution Avenue. That was pretty fun. It did rain while we were outside waiting but the kids still had a good time.

Here is Sarah Margaret with her namesake, my grandma Margaret, while they watched the fireworks.

It was a great Fourth of July celebration and we were very excited to go and celebrate the birth of our great nation in its capitol.

Is your dad available for an arm wrestle? I feel compelled to defend my dad against your charges, but he's a rather transient worker, so his office(s) don't compare.
P.S. I did have a rather interesting conversation with your dad when he was visiting about Bruce Babbit and other Dept of Interior friends.

Again, I am not claiming that my dad is superior or cooler than anybody else's dad, just his office. Please don't take offense and send your dad to beat up my dad (he is a gentle soul).

So then, is your dad's office available to arm-wrestle my dad's office? I feel somewhat compelled to defend my dad's office.
How fun to watch the fireworks in Washington, D.C.! That's a memorable 4th of July.

If you would like to challenge for the coolest-dad-office title please create a post and lay claim to the title. I think that would be very interesting and fun.

Nice stroller.

Your dad may have the coolest office, but my dad has the coolest kids.
